Guests can choose between safari-inspired tented pavilions along the shore and cliffside suites with private pools.

Crete has long been a top holiday destination in Greece as the home of Europe’s best beach, incredible archaeological sites and plenty of delicious dishes.

If you’re planning a visit (or revisit) and want to escape the crowds, you might want to look at this newly opened boutique hotel.

Located on Crete’s western coast, a short drive away from the famed Elafonissi Beach, The Revery has just 24 keys.

Exclusively open to those aged 12 and above, guests can book stays at the boutique property seasonally between March and November.

What to expect at The Revery

The retreat’s rooms are split into two main categories: The Revery Wild, and The Revery Suites.

The former are Greece’s first safari-inspired tented pavilions, which can be found along the shore, while the latter are perched higher up on the cliffs.

Pavilions come with hydrotherapy mini pools, while suites have private pools. You can also book The Revery Villa, which sleeps six.

As if lying by the pool and on the beach wasn’t relaxing enough, guests can also book in for treatments at the ROÉE Spa, which is named for the Greek word ροή (roí), which means flow.

The space has four treatment rooms, a sauna with a sea review, cold baths, a gym, and outdoor yoga decks.

Crete was recently named one of the world’s best destinations for dining, and you can try local fare at Fílema Restaurant. With a focus on family recipes, plates on offer here feature seasonal and locally sourced ingredients.

You can reach The Revery after a two-hour drive from Chania International Airport, which has direct flights to destinations such as Brussels, London Heathrow, Berlin, Vienna, Milan and more.
