Future cities

Future cities
By Euronews

More than half the world’s population already lives in cities, and that trend is going to continue, putting a high demand on energy and resources.

Ursula Eicker, Scientific Director at the Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences, guides us through the key themes that will define the cities of the future in this special Futuris documentary.

We travel across Europe from Paris to Istanbul, to see how energy efficient office blocks, hydrogen and electric vehicles, biomass plants, solar cells and other cutting edge technologies are being developed within the remit of EU research projects.

We find the issues of energy sources and energy management taking centre stage, and witness how, amidst all the other great challenges of city life, the energy question, and the changes it may invoke, has become paramount.
