Digital services tax off the table, activists lament that EU finance ministers let tech giants off the hook.

An actor wearing a giant Mark Zuckerberg head and holding a bag full of Euro notes welcomed Finance Ministers ahead of the EcoFin meeting on Tuesday. Holding up a speech bubble saying “Tax Me!” it was part of Avaaz’s campaign calling on the EU to introduce a digital service tax on the revenues of tech giants, that has been signed by over 650.000 citizens.

Activists lamented that EU finance ministers failed to agree on a ‘digital services tax’ that would ensure tech giants pay a minimum level of tax.
