The Honey Festival celebrates Kalbajar’s long beekeeping tradition, bringing local producers together as they promote the region’s honey and explore opportunities to reach new audiences beyond Azerbaijan.

Beekeeping has been part of Sabir Mustafayev’s family for generations. With more than 40 years in the profession, he says the craft has changed significantly, with beekeepers adapting to new challenges including global warming. His family brought its farm to Kalbajar in 2021 and later opened a honey shop there, followed by a branch in Baku. The annual Honey Festival is putting Kalbajar’s beekeeping tradition in the spotlight, as producers look to bring the region’s honey to a global audience.
