The marriage certificate obtained by Jornal de Notícias shows that one of the world's most high-profile couples opted for separate assets; at the ceremony, besides their five children, four witnesses were present.
New details have emerged about the most eagerly awaited wedding of the year. The daily "Jornal de Notícias" (source in Portuguese) obtained the marriage certificate between Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez, reporting that the civil ceremony took place at the couple’s home in Cascais on Tuesday 11 August, at 1.30 pm.

On site, in addition to their five children, as had initially been revealed by the agency representing the player, there were also four witnesses. They were Miguel Paixão, a friend of the footballer since his academy days at Sporting; Ivana Rodríguez, Georgina’s sister; and José Rodríguez Sangil, a Spanish jeweller, and his wife, Mónica González Martínez.
The marriage was formalised by Maria Manuel Folhadela de Oliveira, a registrar who travelled from the city of Porto to conduct the ceremony.
The document also reveals that the Portuguese footballer and his wife opted for the separation of property regime (source in Portuguese). Under this arrangement, as a rule, each spouse retains as their own the assets they already owned before the marriage and any property they acquire afterwards.
But the separation of property regime is not the default regime for marriages in Portugal and, in order to choose it, couples must sign a prenuptial agreement. In Cristiano and Georgina’s case, the document shows that this agreement was signed the day before the ceremony, at a notary’s office in Lisbon.
The couple, who have been together since 2016 and announced their engagement in August 2025, thus formalised a union that had been the subject of speculation for months.
Contrary to what many had expected, Ronaldo and Georgina chose an intimate ceremony to formalise their union. In fact, on the previous Saturday, hundreds of people had gathered near Funchal Cathedral, in Madeira - where the footballer comes from - convinced they would be able to watch the wedding of one of the world’s most high-profile couples, which did not happen.
The document recently released by "Jornal de Notícias" does not list Dolores Aveiro, Cristiano Ronaldo’s mother, nor the footballer’s sisters, Elma and Katia Aveiro, among those present at the ceremony.
