Chappell Roan has dropped the Casey Wasserman talent agency after Epstein files revelations.
Grammy winning artist Chappell Roan has announced she has left the talent agency Wasserman Music after the company’s founder, Casey Wasserman, was named in the latest release of Epstein files by the US Department of Justice.
In an Instagram story, Roan wrote: “As of today, I am no longer represented by Wasserman, the talent agency led by Casey Wasserman. I hold my teams to the highest standards and have a duty to protect them as well. No artist, agent or employee should ever be expected to defend or overlook actions that conflict so deeply with our own moral values.”
Roan continued: “I have deep respect and appreciation for the agents and staff who work tirelessly for their artists and I refuse to passively stand by. Artists deserve representation that aligns with their values and supports their safety and dignity. This decision reflects my belief that meaningful change in our industry requires accountability and leadership that earns trust.”
The 27-year-old ‘Good Luck, Babe!’ singer joins a growing list of musicians leaving Wasserman after the release of Casey Wasserman's 2003 emails to convicted sex offender Ghislaine Maxwell.
Rock band Wednesday has left the agency, while Beach Bunny and Sleigh Bells’ Alexis Krauss have shared statements demanding Wasserman be held accountable.
“I deeply regret my correspondence with Ghislaine Maxwell which took place over two decades ago, long before her horrific crimes came to light,” Wasserman stated. “I never had a personal or business relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. As is well documented, I went on a humanitarian trip as part of a delegation with the Clinton Foundation in 2002 on the Epstein plane. I am terribly sorry for having any association with either of them.”
Wasserman represents artists and sports players, including Kendrick Lamar, Coldplay, Lorde, SZA, Geese, Wet Leg, and Ed Sheeran.
In 2024, Billie Eilish fired the agency after The Daily Mail reported that Wasserman had engaged in inappropriate relationships with female employees.
Wasserman, who also serves as the Los Angeles Olympics Chief ahead of the 2028 games, has been called upon to step down.
Ghislaine Maxwell is serving a 20-year prison sentence after being found guilty in 2021 on charges including sex trafficking of a minor. She was arrested in 2020 after being accused by federal prosecutors of recruiting and grooming girls for sexual encounters with Epstein between 1994 and 2004.
