Some of the most iconic costumes and props from TV and cinema are set to go to auction in London next month.

Propstore’s Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction will feature a Star Wars Stormtrooper helmet, Michael Keaton’s Batsuit and the Ghostface mask from Scream, among 1,800 lots.
The London auction house will put nearly 2,000 items of film memorabilia under the hammer at Bafta, 195 Piccadilly on 14 and 15 November, with an online-only auction the following two days.
It’s expected that some of the items will sell for figures in the hundreds of thousands, with the highest expected sale expected to be the Stormtrooper helmet, used in the Jedi mind trick scene of the 1977 film Star Wars for £500,000 (€596,000).
Next up on the list is the Batsuit that is displayed in the Batcave of Tim Burton’s 1992 film Batman Returns, the second film starring Michael Keaton as the caped crusader. The suit is expected to sell for as much as £200,000 (€238,000).
At a similar price point is Maximus Decimus Meridius' arena helmet and mask, worn by Russell Crowe in Ridley Scott’s 2000 film Gladiator. Any prospective buyer will likely consider how the reception of the highly-anticipated sequel to Scott’s Oscar-winning film, due for release later this year, will impact the long-term worth of the helmet.
A hand-painted poster by Robert McGinnis for the 1971 film James Bond: Diamonds are Forever is expected to sell for as much as £300,000 (€358,000), while Marty McFly’s screen matched futuristic resizing jacket from 1989’s Back To The Future Part II might fetch up to £120,000 (€143,000).
Other highlights from the auction include costumes from Cleopatra (1963), The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966), and The Thing (1982).
Some of the most iconic headwear from Hollywood films is also going up for auction. Dread Pirate Roberts’ eye-mask bandana worn by Cary Elwes in 1987’s The Princess Bride, a Henry Winkler-signed version of the Ghostface mask from 1996’s Scream, a screen-matched muzzle worn by Tom Hardy’s Max in 2015’s Mad Max: Fury Road and one of Captain Jack Sparrow’s hat, worn by Johnny Depp in 2007’s Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World’s End are in the catalogue.
“Following our entertainment memorabilia live auction in Los Angeles this August where Indiana Jones’ hat achieved a record-breaking $630,000 (€751,000), we are delighted to announce our UK sale,” Stephen Lane, founder and chief executive of Propstore, said.
