Raising awareness of Sickle Cell disease

Challenge

On World Sickle Cell Disease Day (19 June), Novartis wanted to raise public health awareness amongst local stakeholders in Ghana of the significant effect that Sickle Cell disease has on sub-Saharan Africa.

Concept

Africanews crafted a cross-platform educational campaign that used the documentary approach of the sustainable healthcare programme Smartcare, broadcast in French and English. The campaign educated audiences about Sickle Cell Disease, with an emphasis on newborn screening, whilst informing on available treatments.

Sponsorship of 1x 5-minute Smartcare episode on Africanews broadcast in French and English.​ Accompanied by a 30-second spot campaign on Euronews African feed and on Africanews broadcast in French and English.

Smartcare episode made available on africanews.com (100% SOV guaranteed on article page) and on Africanews Youtube channel. Strategic and tactical positioning of digital formats including billboards, wallpapers, MPU, DMPU, pre-rolls, interscrollers, in-readers across Africanews and Euronews websites social posts.​

Results

We delivered a very successful campaign which recorded performances were significantly above average demonstrating the relevance of the message for our africanews.com audience.​
