At the World Travel Market 2015 in London, the leading event for the global travel industry, euronews spoke to M Nazri, the Malaysian Minister of Tourism and Culture, about how his country’s plans to become a true family destination.
We would like to promote Malaysia as a tourism destination for adventure, culture, and also a family destination. We have new hotels coming up to enlarge the number of rooms in Malaysia to accommodate tourists in Malaysia in 2016. And as a family destination also, we are seeking hopefully that by 2017 we have more theme parks for families apart from what we have presently – Legoland, Angry Bird, Hello Kitty. By 2017, we are hoping to launch the 20th Century Fox Theme Park up in the hills of Genting Highlands.
