After Ursula von der Leyen's address, the debate: MEPs Li Andersson and Lukas Mandl deconstruct the EU Commission president's speech in a live edition of The Ring.

Earlier today, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen took the floor in Strasbourg for her annual State of the European Union address, with Europe facing mounting pressure on security, competitiveness, migration and its relationship with the United States.

What did she promise — and what can she actually deliver? From Ukraine and European defence to the economy, migration and the EU’s response to a rapidly changing world, the speech came at a crucial moment for the Union.

After the address, our debate show The Ring will put von der Leyen’s vision under the spotlight: What does Europe really need? Is Brussels becoming more powerful — or simply more ambitious? And can the EU walk the talk, turning big promises into concrete results?

Our guests Li Andersson (MEP, The Left) and Lukas Mandl (MEP, European People's Party) go head to head and discuss one of Europe's major speeches of the year. Join us tonight for a special edition of The Ring live at 8:30 PM CET.
