The new Spider-Man film's box office takings now stand at a record-setting $360m, making it the biggest debut in box office history. 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' and 'Avengers: Endgame' are the only two movies in history to cross $300 million in a single weekend.

The new Spider-Man film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, has broken the Avengers: Endgame record for the biggest North American opening weekend with $360 million in ticket sales from theaters in the US and Canada, according to Sony Pictures.
Previously, numbers showed that Tom Holland’s fourth solo adventure as Marvel's famous webslinger just barely missed the 2019 Endgame record of $357 million. Its box office takings of $335m are now projected at a record-setting $360m, making it the biggest debut in box office history.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Avengers: Endgame are the only two movies in history to cross $300 million in a single weekend.
The newest Spidey movie currently stands at $932m globally and is still the second-biggest worldwide debut behind Endgame, which tallied $1.2 billion. Chances are high that it will surpass $2 billion globally by the end of its theatrical run, a milestone that only seven movies in history have ever achieved.

Spider-Man remains one of Marvel's most lucrative franchises.
Tom Holland's run has been especially impressive: 2017’s Homecoming climbed to $880 million worldwide; 2019's Far From Home made a total of $1.13 billion worldwide; 2021's No Way Home ended its run with a staggering $1.9 billion worldwide. With those numbers, there's no risk of Marvel not keeping him on contractual lockdown.
