Moose carefully inspects fire gear

Video. Watch: Moose inspects Alaska fire department

Updated:

In Alaska, a moose inspected the Anchorage Fire Department, while in Sweden, a rare sighting of a moose with three calves sparked public intrigue.

In Alaska, a moose stepped into the Anchorage Fire Department workshop, calmly inspecting the equipment.

"She seemed satisfied it’d serve well in the event of a wildfire. She took her calves back to their regular habitat without providing feedback." the department quipped on social media.

Meanwhile, across the Atlantic, a rare wildlife scene unfolded on Sweden's Björkö island. A moose was spotted with three calves, an unusual occurrence that sparked public intrigue.

Typically, a female moose gives birth to one calf, and occasionally to twins. Triplets are exceptionally rare and are not considered normal for the species.

Experts say all may be hers, though adoption from a fallen mother remains a possibility. "Their similar size suggests they're likely siblings," noted Professor Göran Ericsson of SLU.
