Thousands of colourful balloons were released into the sky over Gaziantep in a show of support for 5-year-old Elif Azra and other children fighting cancer.

The uplifting event, held outside the hospital where Elif is being treated, was organised by university students after her uncle launched a heartfelt appeal on social media.

The powerful display drew large crowds and aimed to lift the spirits of young patients and their families. As the balloons rose, they transformed the skyline into a moving symbol of unity and hope.

"We are here for Elif Azra. We are here to be a beacon of hope for her", one of the participants said.
