To visit nature without pollution and noise, a European initiative called Moveletur is taking Spain and Portugal by storm. The project was born from the idea to transfer electric mobility from the urban environment to natural spaces.

What Moveletur does

It connects seven natural and protected parks across northwest Spain and northern Portugal via 1000 kilometres of routes adapted to electric vehicles. Moveletur provides the vehicles that can be booked for free. There are 12 pick-up spots to collect them from. The project opens up zones that would otherwise be unknown to tourists in an eco-friendly way.

Jesús Díez is the Moveletur programme director. In an exclusive interview, he tells Euronews about some of the project's positive outcomes.

He says that "what has been achieved, in some way, is an increase in the number of visitors who come looking for the additional attraction of electric mobility. It is a unique element that they do not find in other natural areas of the Iberian Peninsula, and at the same time, this has also benefited tourist accommodation, rural tourist accommodation".
