DOHA (Reuters) - French pole vaulter Renaud Lavillenie, the world record holder, was eliminated from the world athletics championships on Saturday after failing to clear the qualifying height.

The 33-year-old, who has won medals in five consecutive world championships, cleared 5.60 metres but failed in his three attempts at 5.70 metres, short of the 5.75 metres needed to qualify for the final.
