Skiing tourists in Austria rescued from a chairlift

In the Styrian skiing region of Aflenzer Bürgeralm in Austria, stormy weather led to a spectacular rescue operation.

A dozen ski tourists had to be rescued from a chairlift with aerial ladders, among them several children.

Trees had fallen on the lift rope due to strong gusts of wind.

The fire brigade and mountain rescue teams co-ordinated an operation which lasted two hours.
