A total of 344 migrants have been rescued in the Mediterranean Sea since Friday (December 21).

Proactiva Open Arms NGO retrieved 311 migrants off the coast of Libya and Sea-Watch helped 33 people, including several children, in the central Mediterranean.

After being denied permission to dock in Malta and Italy, the Proactiva Open Arms vessel set sail for Spain.

The Sea-Watch ship is still denied a safe port, the organisation said.
