Latest satellite observations indicate the concentration of CO2 gases in the atmosphere has risen further.

November was warmer than average, especially in northern Scandinavia and the Arctic. Temperatures were relatively high over most land areas, notably over Namibia, Angola and parts of northeast Asia. 

Deadly storms and floods forced Italy to declare a state of emergency while floods in Jordan also led to the evacuation of thousands of tourists.

California faced its largest and deadliest wildfires on record. The fires killed more than 100 people and destroyed 18,000 buildings. The estimated cost has been put at $3.5 billion. In the town of Paradise, 85 people died.

New reports from the World Meteorological Organization and the Global Carbon Project show the concentration of CO2 gases hit record highs in 2017. Latest satellite observations indicate that rising trend has continued into 2018.
