The European Parliament has adopted the final report of its Special Committee on Terrorism, calling for a self-standing portfolio for the Commissioner for “Security Union”.

Lawmakers were also urging member states to strengthen cooperation and swiftly share information when the threat level increases.

The aim of the report is to address the practical and legislative deficiencies in the fight against terrorism and to make recommendations as to measures and initiatives that can be taken to overcome these deficiencies and to improve the fight against terrorism in the European Union.
