Clashes between the yellow vest ¨protesters and police broke out beyond Paris on Saturday, including in Nantes, Toulouse and Tarbes.
The road to Nice airport was blocked by a truck and, on the Italian border, the Fréjus tunnel was closed with long queues of trucks forming on both sides.
One of the protesters explained why he had put on a yellow vest.
"Too heavy taxes, our future which is no more defined, and this puts in peril the future of our children, our salaries, our projects, our pensions," he said.
At one nearby toll gate around 100 people were stopping all trucks as the cars passed without paying ands at another near Marseille fire crews joined in.
