(Reuters) - Everton mifielder Gylfi Sigurdsson has been withdrawn from Iceland's squad ahead of their Nations League clash against Belgium due to an ankle injury, the Football Association of Iceland (KSI) said on Monday.

Sigurdsson sustained the injury following a collision with Chelsea's Jorginho during a 0-0 Premier League draw at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

The 29-year-old playmaker was seen leaving the stadium in a protective boot and Everton said the player will undergo further assessment later on Monday.

Iceland face Belgium in Brussels on Thursday before taking on Qatar in a friendly on Monday.

Sigurdsson, who joined Everton from Swansea City at the start of last season, has scored six goals in 13 appearances for the Merseyside club so far this season.
