An 83-year-old man has been hailed a hero after he fended off robbers from a sports betting shop in County Cork in Ireland.

In the video, you can see three men wearing balaclavas entering the premises, two carrying hammers and one armed with a suspected firearm.

The great-grandfather responds by going over to one of them and tries to tackle him. After a struggle, the robber runs away and the man chases him with a chair at one point.

Another man, who appears to be a member of staff, is seen struggling with another robber with a hammer. He also then flees after a struggle.
