Two goals from the Ballon D'or winner sets up a healthy lead for the title holders going into the second leg in Paris, while a Sadio Mane hat-trick tees up 5-0 win for Liverpool against Porto.

It was a Champions League clash that had football fans licking their lips: title holders Real Madrid against the French giants Paris Saint-Germain.

Despite scoring first in the Spanish capital, Paris were unable to contain Cristiano Ronaldo, who equalised with a penalty and added a second to take the lead. A final goal from full back Marcelo secured a 3-1 victory for the hosts.

Meanwhile, across the border Liverpool thrashed Porto 5-0 thanks to a sublime hatrick from Senegalese forward Sadio Mane, who opened and closed the scoring in Portugal.

Goals from Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino added to Porto's woes ahead of their second leg fixture at Anfield.

On Tuesday night, Juventus were stunned by Tottenham, who came from two goals down to draw level, and Basel endured a drubbing at the hands of Manchester City.
