Sharon Stone announced the 75th Golden Globe nominees, with wins here paving the way for later Oscar glory, and it is a stong field for 2018.

Guillermo del Toro's much-anticipated Cold War fantasy "The Shape of Water" leads with seven nominations, and the buzz is it is high time for the Mexican master to reap just reward.

Worthier perhaps, but timely is "The Post", Steven Spielberg's Pentagon Papers drama has six nominations, and Spielberg is always an awards banker.

Greta Gerwig's "Lady Bird" gets three nominations, including best actress and supporting actress for its twin leads.

Despite critical and commercial success "Wonder Woman" missed out completely, as did other high-profile movies like "Detroit" or "The Big Sick". Acclaimed race drama "Get Out" only picked up two nominations.
