Belgium's Thierry Neuville clinched his fourth victory of the season in Australia to secure the runners-up position in the FIA World Rally Championship as torrential rain added drama to the last day of the last race.

Belgium’s Thierry Neuville clinched his fourth victory of the season in Australia to secure the runners-up position in the FIA World Rally Championship as torrential rain added drama to the last day of the last race.

The win adds to previous successes in France, Argentina and Poland.

He is the most successful driver of the season in terms of wins. But had to settle for second in the points for the third time in five years

Neuville held off a determined challenges from Finland’s Jari-Matti Latvala and Estonia’s Ott Tanak.

Latvala’s Toyota then crashed seconds from the end of the stage, allowing Tanak, in a Ford, to take second place overall.
