Netflix has said it is to sever all ties with the actor and director Kevin Spacey, one of the company’s biggest stars and the lead in its drama “House of Cards.”

It follows allegations of sexual misconduct against the Oscar-winning actor.

The company issued a statement about their decision in which they said: “Netflix will not be involved with any further production of ‘House of Cards’ that includes Kevin Spacey.” It added that they would not be progressing with the release of the film Gore which is produced by Spacey and in which he also starred.

The video streaming company suspended production of the political intrigue drama earlier this week in the wake of allegations made by actor Anthony Rapp, that Spacey had made sexual advances towards him at a party in the 1980s.

Meanwhile, British police are also investigating claims by another man that he was sexually assaulted by Spacey in London in 2008.

And the Dutch bank ING has cancelled a planned appearance by Spacey at a business conference in Rotterdam.
