Hillary Clinton has been visiting Wales, where she was awarded an honourary degree at Swansea University.
With the Brexit negotiations deadlocked a few hours earlier, in a speech to the audience, she took the opportunity to give her views on Brexit, likening the public atmosphere in the UK to that of the US.

“I personally continue to believe in the value of the European Union, and more broadly of a Europe that is whole, free, and at peace. No small accomplishment. And Britain has always been a lynchpin of that vision. What’s missing in both of our countries (US and UK) at the moment it seems to me, and what we need more than anything else, is empathy”.

However, Brexit rolls on despite another round of seemingly fruitless negotiations, with European Commission president Jean-Claude Juncker saying again that Britain must commit to paying what it owes to the European Union before talks can begin about a future relationship with the bloc.
