Dame Judi Dench and Director Stephen Frears talk about their new film Victoria and Abdul
ADVERTISEMENTStephen Frears’ latest film, “Victoria and Abdul,” tells the unlikely story of Queen Victoria – played by Dame Judi Dench – and Abdul Karim, the Indian man who became her servant and teacher.
Ali Fazal is in the role of Abdul.
Both Dame Judi and the director say they had their reasons to enjoy making the film.
“We were in the actual place, in her writing room looking out of the window at exactly what she would see,” Dench said.
And referring to Dame Judi, Frears said: “Well she’s very, very good and she’s a wonderful woman. She just makes it very easy. She’s so intelligent and thoughtful and chooses well.”
The film had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival. It is now on worldwide release.
