The iconic FIFA World Cup Trophy is set to begin its longest ever national tour.

With kick-off less than a year away, host nation Russia will take charge of proceedings, building excitement for the flagsip event, the FIFA World Cup in 2018.

The trophy will take in 24 cities, starting with Vladivostok in the far east to Kaliningrad, the most westerly of the host cities.

Unsurprisingly, given the size of the country, the marathon tour will last 123 days.

The tour schedule was announced at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow, where a year from now, the captain of the World Cup-winning side will lift the trophy.
