Muslim leaders in Jerusalem say they are happy that Israel has withdrawn its additional security measures at the Al Aqsa compound and urged their followers to return to prayer.

Israel last night took down cameras and metal gates that had been installed in the area following an attack that killed two policement on July 14.

Metal detectors at the entrance to the compound had already been removed following anger from local muslims which had led to a two-week standoff.
