A Paralympic javelin thrower has died after a training accident.
Abdullah Hayayei was killed while training in London. He was preparing for the World Para Athletics Championships which take place in the city from Friday.
Police said that he is thought to have been hit by a metal pole which was part of the training facility.
Sir Philip Craven, president of the International Paralympic Committee expressed his condolences for the “terrible tragedy”
Hayayei, who also competed at discus and shot-put events for his country, the United Arab Emirates, made his Paralympic debut in Brazil last year.
He was 36.
