There has been a steady stream of awkward greetings – most recently with the wife of Poland’s president Andrzej Duda.

We’ve collected the most clumsy handshake moments in the video, below.

Other notable examples have included the excruciating long handshakes with Japan’s prime minister Shinzō Abe and French president Emmanuel Macron.

But perhaps the most awkward moment was not a handshake at all – when Trump ignored press calls to engage with Angela Merkel.
