Pimms, strawberries and cream can only mean one thing… Wimbledon is back.

Defending champion Andy Murray may have been playing on Centre Court, but the Duchess of Cambridge took centre stage on the opening day of the annual tennis tournament.

Sporting a polka dot dress and slightly shorter hair, Kate was on site to watch the opening match and to meet ball boys and girls and players both past and present.

Fans are in for a rousing two weeks of what is expected to be some of the best tennis in the world, with the singles finals on July 15 and 16.

The Duchess, the newly-appointed Patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, will be charged with awarding the trophies to this year’s champions.
