In the aftermath of the attack near London Bridge by three terrorists using a van and knives to kill and maim dozens, Minister Theresa May called for tougher laws to clamp down on extremism; the Metropolitan Police called for public support and revealed that one of 50 bullets fired at the three attackers had wounded a bystander; support for London poured in from around the world and people took to social media to offer help, words of encouragement, or occasionally to try to use the tragedy for their own ends.
