At least 11 people have been injured after a float collapsed during Rio’s world-famous Carnival Parade.

The top of the second float belonging to the popular samba school Unidos da Tijuca collapsed during the parade at the city’s Sambadrone.

Police are investigating the cause of the accident.

Has anyone been taken to hospital?

Health officials say nine of the injured have been taken to hospital.

Eight people have been treated for shock.

Was the parade halted?

Yes.

It was suspended for 25 minutes, before being allowed to continue.

What about the other crash?

On Sunday, a float belonging to the Paraiso de Tuiuti samba school crashed and injured at least 20 people, including three seriously.
