North Korea’s official news agency has declared Sunday’s test-firing of a medium-to-long-range ballistic missile a success.

North Korea’s official news agency has declared Sunday’s test-firing of a medium-to-long-range ballistic missile a success. On its website it described it as a further advancement in the country’s weapons programme.

Pyongyang has conducted a series of tests in the past year including its fifth of a nuclear device. Sunday’s launch was supervised by leader Kim Jong-un.

The United States, Japan and South Korea have requested urgent United Nations Security Council consultations to discuss the incident.
