Two astronauts, from the US and France, have taken a long spacewalk to help keep the solar power system functioning on the International Space Station.

For the French astronaut, Thomas Pesquet, this was his first spacewalk.

The American Shane Kimbrough was making his second outing this month.

The changing of the aging batteries on the ISS is part of a programme to keep the station going until at least 2024.
