In the Euroleague meanwhile Spanish champions Real Madrid crashed to a home defeat for the third match of the season against the team propping up the Spanish league, Vitoria Gasteiz.

The Basques held a comfortable lead for most of the match, but a late surge by the champions clawed back a 15-point deficit with the match ending on a razor’s edge, 91-87, mainly thanks to a three-pointer sunk by Slovenian defender Jaka Blazic with just 10 seconds on the clock.

In group B, Olympiakos made it two in a row by beating Milan 91-81. The Greeks took an early hold on the match and never let go, leading at the end of each quarter, with the pairing of Green and Spanoulis scoring 16 points each.
