The Romanian Youth Orchestra recently took part in a very special performance at the Palais des Congrès de Paris under the baton of conductor Vladimir Cosma.

76-year old Cosma was celebrating the milestone of a music career spanning 50 years.

The performance marked the start of a tour named ‘Vladimir Cosma – 50 Years of Success’ that will see the Romanian group and acclaimed composer make their way across France and Switzerland playing in nine cities.

Cosma’s choice of songs did not disappoint, wowing the crowd with classics from his impressive repertoire, including Rabbi Jacob, La Boum, Le Grand Blond, l’As des As and Diva.

As well as celebrating his fiftieth year in the music industry, the composer also explained that the anniversary is important to him for personal reasons: “For me, these 50 years are very important because in a way they represent the 50 years since I left Romania.

I came back two years ago with several concerts in Bucharest, which filled me with the enthusiasm of rediscovering my city and my country, which I haven’t seen for more than 50 years now.”
