Italy and Spain shared the spoils with a 1-1 draw in their Group G World Cup qualifier at the Juventus Stadium in Turin on Thursday.

Spain broke the deadlock on 55 minutes when Vitolo capitalized from a goalkeeping error by Gigi Buffon, but Italy salvaged the draw eight minutes from time through a Daniele de Rossi penalty.

Spain and Italy are now on four points from two games, they trail leaders Albania who maintained their perfect start with victory over Liechtenstein.

Turkey were held to a 2-2 draw by Ukraine in Group I.

Andriy Yarmolenko and Artem Kravets scored within three first half minutes before Ozan Tufan pulled one back on the stroke of half time.

With nine minutes left Hakan Calhanoglu snatched the draw for the home side.

Croatia hammered Kosovo 6-0 to top the group on four points – the same as Ireland in second.

Ukraine and Turkey both have two points followed by Finland and Kosovo on one.

Austria and Wales played out a 2-2 draw in their second match of Group D.

Marko Arnautovic scored a brace to help Marcel Koller’s Austria come back twice to share the points.

Joe Allen hit Wales’ first before Kevin Wimmer accidentally bundled a long throw-in into his own net for the second.

Four nations now have four points in the group – Wales, Austria, Serbia, who beat Moldova 3-0, and Ireland who downed Georgia 1-0.

Georgia and Moldova are still without a point so far.
