Rory McIlroy makes memorable last-round charge to win FedEXCup and Tour Championship crowns in Atlanta
Undeniable Northern Irishman Rory McIlroy came from behind with a stunning 64 to win 11 and a half million dollars, the Tour Championship and FedEXCup at East Lake in Atlanta.
He set himself up for a three-way playoff with a remarkable eagle at the 16th, and a three-shot turnover was confirmed when co-leader Kevin Chappell bogeyed the 17th.
Ryan Moore birdied the same hole to grab his share of the playoff, which went to four holes.
Chappell lasted just one hole, after which McIlroy and Moore exchanged pars until yet another long putt went in for the back-in-touch former world number one.
With Paul Casey fourth Europe’s form is looking good in Ryder Cup week.
