John Hinckley Jr, the man who tried to assassinate US President Ronald Reagan in 1981, has been permanently freed from psychiatric hospital.
The release of the 61-year-old comes after a judge ruled in July that he was no longer a danger to himself or the public.
Hinckley will now live at his mother’s home in Virginia.
President Reagan and three others were injured in the shooting. Hinckley apparently carried out the attack in a bid to impress actress Jodie Foster.
