Novak Djokovic and Stan Wawrinka book US Open final date

Novak Djokovic and Gaël Monfils have played each other 12 times.
And the Serb has won on all 12 occasions.
Thus the 13th time of asking was always going to be hard for the Frenchman in the US Open semi final.
Monfils did put up a fight, albeit brief, when he took the third set.
But it was mostly one-way traffic as Djokovic stormed to final winning 6-3 6-2 3-6 6-2.
The Serb will be attempting to win his US Open third title.
The World No1 will contest the final with the World No3, Stan Wawrinka, who outslugged the Japanese sixth seed Kei Nishikori in four sets, 4-6 7-5 6-4 6-2.
The third-seeded Swiss took a while to get untracked as 2014 US Open runner-up Nishikori played a near flawless opening set of the semi-final with just two errors.
The Japanese broke Wawrinka to start the second set, but the Swiss started rolling after breaking back in the fourth game and Nishikori, who went five tough sets to upset second seed Andy Murray in a four-hour quarter-final, began to wither.
Wawrinka, the 2014 Australian Open winner and 2015 French Open champion, will be looking to win his first US Open title on Sunday.
