State media in Iran says the army has begun deploying a Russian supplied S-300 air missile defence system around the Fordo nuclear facility.

Trucks were shown arriving at the underground site located 100 kilometres south of Tehran.

Russia began delivering the missiles earlier this year after sanctions were lifted on Iran following its landmark nuclear deal with world powers.

It is unclear if the system is fully operational.
