Kenya has disbanded its National Olympics Committee because of “alleged mismanagement” of the national team during the Rio Games.
Sports Cabinet Secretary Hassan Wario appointed a committee to carry out an independent inquiry into the Olympic fiasco that saw a Kenyan coach being sent home for posing as an athlete and giving a urine sample in a doping test.
Despite the problems, Kenya enjoyed its most successful Olympics in Rio, winning six gold medals, six silvers and one bronze.
The team, led by David Rudisha, Vivian Cheruiyot and Eliud Kipchoge was the second-best performer in track and field, behind the United States.
