Real Madrid won the UEFA Super Cup for a third time after beating beat Sevilla 3-2 in a rainy Trondheim in Norway.

Dani Carvajal turned out to be Real’s hero when he clinched the winner in the last minute of extra time.

Marco Asensio got Zinedine Zidane’s side in front on 21 minutes only for Sevilla’s Franco Vazquez to level matters just before the break.

Yevheniy Konoplyanka then put Europa League winners Sevilla in the lead from the penalty spot on 72 minutes.

Just as Sevilla looked to have done enough to win the trophy for a first time since 2006, Sergio Ramos forced extra time heading home a 93rd minute equalizer.

A penalty shoot out also looked on the cards but Carvajal’s stunning late effort sealed the win for the Champions League holders.
