Prominent human rights activist Hebe de Bonafini has been protected from arrest by hundreds of supporters in Argentina.

The 87-year-old president of the Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo has twice refused to appear in court to give evidence over the alleged embezzlement of millions of dollars of public funds.

She claims the investigation is politically motivated.
