A tour bus carrying people from China has crashed on a highway in Taiwan, killing all 26 people on board according to local media reports.

The coach caught fire after hitting a railing as it was on its way to the island’s main airport of Taoyuan, just south of the capital Taipei.

The bus was carrying 24 tourists – 16 women and eight men – all of whom died, along with the driver and a tourist guide.

The tourists were on their way home to Dalian after an eight-day tour organised by a travel agency in China’s northeastern province of Liaoning, Taiwan tourism authorities said.
