Egypt’s Mohamed Elshorbagy has powered his way through to the final of this year’s El Gouna International in the Red Sea resort.

He thrashed Colombian Miguel Rodriguez 11-7, 11-4, 11-5 in just 35 minutes.

Elshorbagy will be keener than ever to come out on top in the final – having been runner-up for the past two years.

He said he took nothing for granted against Rodriguez.

“You have to concentrate on every point because he is world number six,” Elshorbagy told euronews.

“When you play in Egypt, there is more pressure but at the same time I have a lot of support behind me at every match and it gives me a big boost and I am very happy to come back here in the final again.”

Elshorbagy faces World Champion Gregory Gaultier in the El Gouna final.

The Frenchman booked his place after knocking out unseeded Egyptian Fares Dessouki – the scoreline 7-11, 11-4, 11-7, 11-3.
