The work was done last week when they travelled to Kyiv and beat Dynamo 3-1 , because on Tuesday night when the Ukrainians came to Manchester nobody scored in a turgid goalless draw.
Kyiv had no cutting edge, and City knew they didn’t have to work too hard to go through. Sterner tests await.
